Gov Umo Eno is raising the literacy rate of our people through the sustenance of free and compulsory education project.
The Ministry of Education is a key Ministry in the State with headquarters at block 10, Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat, Uyo. The Ministry has 10 zonal education offices whose activities are coordinated by the Inspectorate Services Directorate. The zonal offices are at Uyo, Ikot Ekpene, Ikono, Etinan, Ikot Abasi, Oron, Itu, Abak, Ukanafun and Eket.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES/ DUTIES/ BACKGROUND/ SCOPE OF THE MINISTRY
- Policy formulation and control over Primary, Secondary and State-owned Tertiary Institutions in consonance with the National Policy on Education
- Planning, research and development of education
- Monitoring and evaluation of educational programmes to ensure quality.
- Co-ordination of activities of Educational Management Boards and Parastatals (SSEB, SUBEB, STSB, Library Board, ANFE, AKSSB) as prescribed by the enabling laws;
