…inaugurates new model health center in Nduo Eduo.
Akwa Ibom State Government will not allow any group or individuals to hamper progress and development in any part of the State.
Accordingly projects earmarked for any part of the State will go ahead as planned irrespective of attempts to resist such moves.
Governor Umo Eno who made this disclosure while inaugurating a newly constructed Model Health Center at Nduo Eduo in Eket local government area, particularly frowned at a recent caveat emptor by a group, Ekid Peoples Union, threatening against development in the disputed Stubb Creek Forest.
The group warned the public, investors, and corporate entities against engaging in land transactions within the Stubb’s Creek Forest Reserve area, in a release by its President Dr. Samuel Udonsak and Secretary, Barr. Bassey Dan Abia.
But Governor Eno, warning that no entity can stop Government, said it was wrong for a party that was in court over the said land, to come and act as arbiters on the same matter.
He said that the Federal Government was constructing the Coastal Highway project that will crisscross the said parcel of land, and while the EketGroup has petitioned the federal government, Governor Eno is insisting that no force can stop the machines of government from ploughing and developing the land.
“It is better you embrace dialogue and avoid actions that could lead to endless bloodshed of innocent lives.
“Being confrontational all the time does not yield any meaningful progress. People negotiate with government and among themselves.
“You cannot continue to stop development. The other time, they wrote to BOA and stopped the company from executing a fertilizer company in that place. Today that fertilizer project is stalled and becomes a big loss to the unemployed.
Governor Eno reaffirmed his administration’s determination and commitment in embarking on impactful projects across Akwa Ibom State, insisting that development will continue to define his leadership.
“My role is to build projects that benefit the people, I only urge our contractors to brace up and deliver projects timely and on schedule “, he said.
He charged the Medical Superintendent and other workers to justify the confidence in them by ensuring that they reside within the facility and make good use of the equipment.
Setting the tone for the event, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ekem John highlighted the essence and features of the healthcare facility, emphasizing on its importance to the people.
“The Governor’s ARISE Agenda prioritizes rural development and healthcare. This newly constructed Primary Health Centre is a testament to his commitment,” Dr. John stated.
Highlighting the features and significance of the facility, the Health Commissioner continued:
” Today, we have a world-class facility right here, staffed with competent medical doctors, nurses and other health professionals ready to serve the people.
“We have here, a standard solar powered medical facility equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and accommodation for doctors and nurses”, he said.
Earlier, in his welcome speech, Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Hon. Akaniyene Tommy rcounted the numerous live-touching projects the Governor has brought to the area.
He Re-assured that Eket will continue to stand by the Governor and will massively support his re-emergence come 2027.
Also speaking, a prominent leader in Eket, Chief Assam Assam(SAN) commended the Governor’s efforts in grassroots development in the State.
He said the hospital project which a fulfillment of the wish of a prominent leader from the area, Late Dr. Ekwo who lived his life saving the lives of others, and thanked the Governor for keeping his promise to the late sage.
Akwa Ibom State Chairman of All Progressive Congress, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo commended the Governor’s developmental efforts in just two and a half years, urging Akwa Ibomites to appreciate Pastor Eno for his sincerity of purpose since emerging as Governor.
Goodwill messages were delivered by other community leaders from the area as well as stakeholders in the healthcare industry.
