Governor Emmanuel signs contract to host $1.4b Fertilizer Plant
The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has signed an agreement for the citing of a multi billion fertilizer plant in his State.
Governor Emmanuel was part of a Nigerian delegation led by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, that visited Morocco to set out the next steps of the $1.4 Bln fertilizer production plant project launched in June 2018.
The agreement between the OCP Africa, the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority and the Akwa Ibom State Government will birth one of the biggest investments in the fertilizer production industry worldwide.
The signing ceremony took place at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UMP6).
Mr. Emmanuel signed one of the agreements of the partnership, which covers a memorandum of understanding between OCP Africa, the Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria and the NSIA on land acquisition, administrative facilitation, and common agricultural development projects in the Akwa Ibom State.
Speaking while signing the agreement, Governor Emmanuel said, “Our state is receptive to investments and we are prepared to offer the necessary support to make the project a reality.
“With a site that is suitably located to enable operational logistics and an abundance of gas resources, all that is left is for the parties to accelerate the project development process”, Mr. Udom said.
The agreement reached between the Nigerian Government and the OCP further links OCP, Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), the NNPC, the Gas Aggregation Company Nigeria (GACN), and the NSIA.
The two partners agreed to strengthen further their solid partnership leveraging Nigerian gas and the Moroccan phosphate.
This project will lead to a multipurpose industrial platform in Nigeria, which will use Nigerian gas and Moroccan phosphate to produce 750,000 tons of ammonia and 1 million tons of phosphate fertilizers annually by 2025.
The visit of the Nigerian delegation to Morocco takes place within the frame of the partnership sealed between OCP Group and the Nigerian Government to support and develop Nigeria’s agriculture industry.
Following the success of the first phase of Nigeria‘s Presidential Fertilizer Initiative (PFI) and the progress of the fertilizer production plant project launched in 2018 by OCP and NSIA, the Moroccan phosphates group and the Nigerian government delegation have agreed on the next steps of their joint project which is rapidly taking shape.
Several cooperation agreements were inked on Tuesday at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) by OCP Africa and the Nigerian delegation. Through these deals, OCP reaffirms its unwavering support of agricultural development initiatives in Nigeria including PFI.
OCP Africa and the NSIA have agreed, inter alia, to set up a joint venture which will oversee the development of the industrial platform that will produce ammonia and fertilizers in Nigeria.
The OCP has also pledged to supply Nigerian famers with quality fertilizers adapted to the needs of their soil at competitive prices and produced locally.
Gov Emmanuel assure on projects completion…Celebrates Nwoko’s elevation as SAN
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel has again said that he will not be distracted by blackmails and petitions from those he describe as enemies of the State.
On the contrary, he has reassured that he remains focused on ensuring the completion of all projects initiated by his administration before he quits office in 2023.
He gave the assurance, Sunday at the Four Square Gospel Church, Afaha Ube, Itam, Itu during a special thanksgiving service to celebrate the elevation of the Attorney-General and State Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Uwemedimo Nwoko as a Life Bench and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN.
While congratulating Nwoko on his elevation, the Governor noted that “there are those who saw Nwoko and greeted him, and even prayed for God to bless him to succeed as SAN but the same people submitted petitions against Nwoko as a SAN to the National Judcial Council.
“Some of them even greeted him and prayed the same prayer with the petition in their pockets, whereas, they were on their way to submit the petitions”.
He commended Nwoko’s family for deeming it fit to appreciate God on his elevation.
The Governor who wondered why some people would work against the development of their state, maintained that he was irrevocably committed to the industrialization of the state, and would not be deterred by whatever antics employed by detractors
“Three days ago, I got a message and you can fact-check anywhere that during the convention of the Apostolic Mount Olive Church, a young man, confessed before the congregation that he and some people went to the Coconut Plantation of the state government to destroy the coconuts and stop them from yielding.
“I always tell people not to worry about me, because I will finish strong and all projects initiated by my administration will be completed before I leave office.
“That is where my focus lies, not on all the blackmails you see, they don’t distract me.
He furthered “We thank the church for always praying for us, because that is our strength. Don’t be afraid for me at all because he that calls me is always there.
“Don’t pity me at all when you see blackmail against me, because any tree with good fruits will always attract sticks.
“Let me also tell people that you cannot rewrite the Bible. You cannot disrespect your father and think it will be well with you. That is in the Bible.
“If you want to be a Governor, you must first respect the seat of the Governor, because you cannot urinate on a seat and sit on it”.
In his thanksgiving speech, the celebrator, Barr. Uwemedimo Nwoko was full of appreciation to God and Governor Udom Emmanuel for giving him the platform that made it possible for him to be the first Nigerian to become a life bencher and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN in the same year.
Mother of the Attorney- General, Deaconess Eno Nwoko, a happy mother at 80, feeling fulfilled was beaming with smiles seeing her second son, Barr. Uwemedimo Nwoko (SAN) celebrating his elevation and her fourth son, Engr. Ime Nwoko celebrate his 50th birthday on the same day.

Governor Emmanuel is very strategic in his investment approach- High Commissioner Trinidad and Tobago
The High Commissioner of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago HE, Wendell Vincent Carlton De Landro has expressed pleasant surprise at the large scale development on going in the state under Governor Udom Emmanuel. He said “ I am pleasantly surprised at the extent of work going on all over the state. I have visited the ongoing terminal building, the greenhouses both at the airport, the 21 storey Dakkada Towers, the flour mill, the syringe factory and the coconut pressing factory and I’m amazed. Governor Emmanuel is very strategic in his investment approach.”
The High Commissioner was taken on the tour by a state government team led by Chief of Staff to the Governor, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang assisted by Honourable Commissioners for Agriculture, Dr. Glory Edet, Special Duties, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, Culture &Tourism, Orman Esin and Information & Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong.
Mr.Landro intimated that he has identified many areas of possible collaboration between his country and Akwa Ibom state, which he intends to explore during his discussions with Governor Emmanuel.
Upon return from the tour, the High Commissioner was received by His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel in Government House, where they had extensive deliberations on areas of investment collaboration.
Before his departure from government house, the High Commissioner thanked the Governor for the excellent hospitality extended to him during his stay, commending the facilities at the Ibom hotels and golf resort, promising to return soon to play golf there.
Akwa Ibom Government to Align with Local Content in Development of Ibom Deep SeaPort project.
The Akwa Ibom State Government has emphasized that local content will be strictly adhered to in the construction process of the Ibom Deep Seaport.
The Commissioner for Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Mr. Akan Okon reechoed this when members of Nigeria Dredgers Association paid him a courtesy visit in his office today, Thursday.
Mr. Okon who asserted that Akwa Ibom State has a lot in relation to local content, assured that opportunities would be given to willing Nigerians to contribute to the realization of the Ibom Deep Seaport project.
He reminded citizens of Akwa Ibom of the need to upgrade themselves in various skills that will be relevant during the construction process of the port in order to stand the chance of being incorporated into the various available opportunities.
The Economic Development Commissioner noted that upon completion, the sea port will not only add value to the maritime sector, but will also be of immense benefit to the entire country.
Mr Okon expressed optimism that the final approval for the kick off of the project will be gotten soon, saying that the project is at the last stage of approval.
Mr. Akan Okon lauded the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for creating an enabling environment for industries to thrive and ensuring that the sea port project is actualised.
He assured the dregers of full inclusion in the construction process of the port.
Speaking on behalf of the Dregers Association, the Chairman, Engr. Fortune Baridoma, explained that the Association is made up of season engineers from various fields of engineering who have come together to contribute their wealth of experiences towards the actualisation of the Ibom
Deep Seaport project.
Engr. Baridoma commended the Akwa Ibom State Government for initiating the port project which will create employment opportunities for both indigenes and residents of the State as well as increase revenue of the country.

Our Fight Against Covid-19 Is Total…Governor Emmanuel
Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel has restated his administration’s total commitment to decimating coronavirus in the State even as school resumes for exit classes. Governor Emmanuel stated this while taking delivery of five ambulance buses and One Hundred Thousand facemasks donated to the State by BUA Foundation at Government House, Uyo. He said already, the effort of the State Government in fighting the pandemic has paid off hence there will not be any complacency on the part of the Government.
The Governor promised to deploy the ambulance buses to the different local government areas of the State in line with his administration’s policy of ensuring that every part of the State is well equipped for eventual medical emergency.
He also hinted that the facemasks will be sent to schools for students in exit classes who have resumed for examinations.
The Chairman, BUA Foundation, Abdul Rabiu represented by the Director of the Organization, Dr Aliyu Idi Hong commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for his passion and creativity in the fight against Covid-19, expressing shock at the revolution witnessed in the health sector as if the Governor had premonition of the pandemic.
The former minister of health hinted that it was in appreciation of the governor’s effort that the organization decided to support him to completely win the fight against Covid-19. He said such successful approach should be emulated by other governors so that Nigeria can totally be free of the disease.
Earlier on arrival, the BUA Foundation delegation was received by the Secretary to State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, Commissioner for Health, Professor Augustine Umoh and his Information and Strategy counterpart, Comrade Ini Ememobong as well as the Honorary Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr Dominic Ukpong.
Receiving the guests, the SSG hinted that Governor Udom Emmanuel is committed to sustaining a healthy population in the State which informs the massive investments in healthcare infrastructure in the State.
He noted that it was a great feat for the governor to accomplish all that in the sector even during interstate total lockdown induced by Covid-19, and that Governor Udom Emmanuel does not only lead the fight from the front but lived ahead of Covid-19.

Gov Emmanuel sues for Gratitude, Love from Christians

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has called on the Christians to use the Easter season in appreciating individuals who have made sacrifices for their well-being.
Governor Emmanuel, accompanied by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Barrister Onofiok Luke, made the remarks during a special Easter Mass at Christ The King Cathedral, Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo.
The Governor described Easter as a significant period in Christendom, urging the people to utilize the season in expressing gratitude to their parents for their selflessness in nurturing them to adulthood.
He commended the Christian Community for persistently praying for the success of his administration, lauding their support throughout the electioneering period and appreciated them for the confidence in re-electing him as Governor for a second term.
In a homily, the Catholic Bishop of Uyo Diocese, Rt. Reverend John Ayah, said that the Easter season is a period for Christians to reflect on their relationship with God, adding that it is also a time for celebrating God’s love for humans.
Reverend Ayah applauded the achievements of the Governor Emmanuel-led administration, particularly commending the Governor for floating the state Airline, Ibom Air, and stated that it was an indication of Emmanuel’s prudence in utilising resources.
He noted that those in positions of authority should work for the interest of the people, appreciating Governor Emmanuel for creating job opportunities and implored him to do more to accommodate the unemployed youths in the state.
The cleric stressed the need for people to continuously pray for those in leadership positions, pointing out that their authority comes from God and cautioned the people to refrain from negative criticism.
He congratulated the Governor on his victory at the polls, commending security agencies for their role in combating crime and stated that their efforts have enabled Akwa Ibom to be adjudged as the most peaceful state in the country.
Highlight of the occasion was the donation of a new bus to the Church Choir by Governor Emmanuel.
The Easter Mass also had in attendance the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, Head of the State Civil Service, Mrs. Ekereobong Akpan, members of the State Executive Council and other top government functionaries.
