A Profile of Mr. Monday Ebong Uko – Hon. Commissioner for Youths and Sports
Mr. Monday Ebong Uko, is the Commissioner for Youths and Sports. An astute administrator and a grassroots politician, whose experience in the management of human resources is well-known, Uko, is a former councilor; vice-chairman and caretaker chairman of Obot Akara local government area. He was also a chapter chairman of the Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM) in the state.
Mr. Uko who has also been the Head of Council, Obot Akara LGA, chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Akwa Ibom State chapter is the chairman, Monty Suites, a high profile investment in the hospitality sector.
He won the Good Governance Award, Star Prize Winner and Best Performed Local Government Chairman in Akwa Ibom State. He was first appointed the commissioner for youth and sports by the immediate-past administration and reappointed into the same office in 1st December 2015 by Gov. Udom Emmanuel.
The Commissioner attended the University of Uyo, FIDA Secondary Commercial School, Urue Offong/Oruko local government area and Primary School, Obot Atan, where he obtained his educational certificates. Mr. Ebong Uko is happily married with children.
