Honourable (Mrs.) Inibehe Silas Etukudo is a distinguished public servant, seasoned politician and passionate advocate for women empowerment and social development, whose life of service continues to positively impact Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large.
Born on 16th September 1964 in Ikot Edim, Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Etukudo began her educational journey at Q.I.C Group School, Ikot Udo Ekpo, where she obtained her First School Leaving Certificate in 1976. She proceeded to Technical College, Ikot Uko and later Iwukem High School, Iwukem, earning her Senior School Certificate in 2000. Her pursuit of higher education culminated in the award of a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Uyo in 2009.
Her professional career commenced with the Cross River Basin Development Authority, where she served diligently as a clerical officer from 1982 to 1988. Driven by an abiding passion for community development and public service, she ventured into politics, becoming in 1999 the first female councillor representing Odoro Ward 2 in Ika Local Government Area. In this role, she distinguished herself through impactful interventions, including the provision of potable water to underserved communities and the promotion of grassroots economic empowerment.
Hon. Etukudo’s leadership trajectory continued as Supervisory Councillor for Health and Social Welfare and later as the first female Deputy Leader of the Legislative Council in Ika Local Government. Her dedication to party and community service earned her several strategic roles, including Chapter Coordinator of Uyai Iban Akwa Ibom (Ika Chapter) in 2009 and Special Adviser to the Ika Local Government Transition Committee in 2011.
In 2016, she once again made history as the first female Transition Chairman of Ika Local Government Area, where she played a pivotal role in enhancing security through the renovation of critical security facilities and the restoration of military forward operation bases. Her service at the state level includes appointments to the State Universal Basic Education Board in 2019, the Akwa Ibom State PDP Congress Coordinating Committee in 2020 and the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service Commission in 2022.
A tireless champion of women’s development, Hon. Etukudo was elected President of the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Women Forum in 2018, later emerging as the Akwa Ibom State PDP Women Leader in 2024. In recognition of her exemplary leadership and commitment to social welfare, she was appointed in 2025 as the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Akwa Ibom State.
Her outstanding contributions have been widely recognized through numerous awards, including the Beacon of Hope Award by the Africa Women Summit (2025), the Pillar of Girl and Woman Award by the Association of Beauty Queens and Kings Nigeria (2025), an Award of Honour for Service to Persons with Disabilities by the Centre of God’s Glory, an Award of Excellence from the Annang Community in Rivers State and the Transformation Trailblazer Award at Evolve 2025.
