Covid-19: AKSG’s Push Back Yielding Quality Results

The COVID-19 Management Committee chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem has received the review report of the fight against the corona virus pandemic from the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Prof. Augustine Umoh.
The summary of relevant facts in the report is as follows:
TESTING
The total number of tests conducted is 1521 (as at 12/08/2020)
The record of the most recent tests conducted are:
On 6-8-2020:
139 samples taken
13 new cases
21 patients discharged
On 8-8-2020:
45 samples taken
1 new case
26 patients discharged
On 12-8-2020
118 samples taken
6 new cases
10 patients discharged
Total confirmed cases 26 (as at 12-08-2020)
COMMUNICATIONS
Call Center: The AKS COVID-19 RESPONSE call center operates 24 hours daily and 7 days a week.

CASE MANAGEMENT
As of 12th August, 2020, all the active cases are currently on mandatory isolation and treatment. The patients are all stable and in high spirits.
CONTACT TRACING
contact tracing is on going for those identified to have had close contact with patients who have tested positive.
FUTURE ACTIONS
a. Continuous close observation of the patients by a team of specialized medical experts.
b. Intensified efforts on contact tracing and collection of samples, using standard medical procedures.
c. Intensified awareness and publicity to the general public on measures of preventing the spread of Covid-19 Virus.
CONCLUSION
The Committee appreciates the huge support they have received from His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, who has not only availed the committee of requisite resources for the fight against the pandemic, but has been physically involved in every step of the battle.
