Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno’s commitment to deepening development across sectors especially in provision of critical healthcare infrastructures today received commendation from people of Ikot Abasi Local Government Area.
 
Plaudits for Governor Eno were highlights of today’s inauguration of Model Primary Health Centre at Ikot Ubo, where the people noted was a reflection of his drive to qualitative healthcare and inclusion for underserved communities.
 
Appreciating the people’s sustained support to the administration, the Governor, represented by Former Deputy Governor of the State, Obong Nsima Ekere attributed Akwa Ibom’s monumental achievements to the patriotism and contributions of past leaders.
 
Ekere, a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission enumerated the administration’s landmark imprints across the State as practical expression of the Governor’s commitment to the ARISE Agenda, calling for massive support for his re-election in 2027.
 
According to the elder statesman, “This is a Governor that is very intentional about development, what we are commissioning today is not about another building but a facility that would serve the future”.
 
“I don’t want us to see this centre in isolation, it is befitting to note that across the state, the administration has spared no resource at optimizing the entire health ecosystem in the state”, Ekere added.
 
Narrating their decades of ordeal with poor access to health infrastructures, the former Deputy Governor described Governor Eno as a leader that is resilient at taking development to the people.
 
In his overview of the facility, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health Dr. Patrick Eshiet, charged the people to take ownership of the facility, equipments and personnel, if they must derive maximum benefit from the investment.
 
Dr. Eshiet while recalling that his medical career started in the community noted that the facility would bridge the healthcare gap and expand access to a wide range of medical services that other communities across the state were already enjoying.
 
Acknowledging impacts of Governor Eno’s infrastructural strides in Ikot Abasi, the Chairman Hon. Ime Williamson Essien listed critical interventions that have positively turned around the socioeconomic fortunes of the area and promised their continued support to the ARISE Agenda.
 
Recollecting difficulties the people faced in accessing healthcare, due to the distance to the General Hospital, the National Assembly member Rep. Uduak Odudoh thanked the Governor and and listed other achievements of the administration at providing infrastructure across the state.
On the forthcoming 2027 polls Rep. Odudoh said, “We will deliver the 113 units of Ikot Abasi to the APC in appreciation of this administration’s developmental strides across the state”.
 
In their goodwill messages, the Special Adviser on Political and Social Re-orientation, Mr. Kufre Udosen, and Paramount Ruler of Ikot Abasi Edidem Udo Joe Ntukobom in his message to the event, charged benefiting communities to safeguard public facilities in their domain against vandals and appreciated the Governor for giving the people a chance at healthy and productive living.
 
Highpoint of the event was a tour of the entire facility by the Special Guest, state officials and stakeholders of the area.
