Project Summary
The 3.09km Ikot Essien – Ikot Uyo Road in Nsit Atai Local Government Area was undertaken by the Akwa Ibom State Government to address the longstanding difficulties experienced by communities along the road corridor due to its deplorable condition. The project, awarded in November 2024 to Nipoj Global Services Limited by the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Works, represents the intervention of the Pastor Umo Eno’s administration in restoring access to a road previously abandoned by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Key Project Features
The project comprises a 3.09km single carriageway with a width of 7.3m, supported by road pavement and drainage infrastructure designed to improve durability, water management and long-term serviceability. Key features include:
* 150mm compacted thickness of sub-base course.
* 150mm compacted thickness of base course.
* 50mm compacted thickness of wearing course.
* 3No. culverts at designated locations.
* 4.18km length of side drains.
* 0.55km length of outfall drains at designated locations.
The road and associated infrastructure provide improved accessibility, effective drainage and enhanced connectivity along the project corridor.ccc
