Akwa Ibom South (Eket) Senatorial District has joined its counterparts in Ikot Ekpene and Uyo Senatorial Districts respectively to endorse Governor Umo Eno for a second term in office.
Presenting the endorsement communique to the Governor, Thursday April 23, 2026, the political leader of the district, Ambassador Assam Assam SAN, said the endorsement was in recognition of the outstanding performance of Governor Eno in less than three years of his first term.
He said besides the fact that the Governoris from Uyo Senatorial District, but having lived and done business in the area for many years, he is considered as being one of their own.
While assuring of their determination to support his re-election, he said, “We have an implicit confidence in your ability to serve our State till 2031.”
Chief Assam also noted that the Senatorial district also unanimously agreed to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as well as support the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio for re-elections in 2027.
Also speaking, the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakeneyi commended the Governor for his quality leadership which, according to her, has given them the impetus for the endorsement.
She formally notified and presented Chief Assam as the new leader of the Senatorial District to the Governor, adding that Ikpoto Okon Osung and Engr Uwem Okoko were also chosen to work with the leader as the Deputy leader and Secretary of the Senatorial District.
In their separate remarks, Dr. Pat Ifon, Ikpoto Okon Osong, and former Deputy Governor, Obong Nsima Ekere, reaffirmed their confidence, trust and support, in Governor Umo Eno’s administration and reassured of their commitment to supporting him for eight unbroken years.
On his part , the Political Leader of Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob, appreciated the stakeholders of Eket for their decision to stand by Uyo and their son, the Governor.
Responding, Governor Eno appreciated the delegation and the people of the Senatorial District as a whole for their show of love and confidence, and for the endorsement to complete what he started, saying that it is a pathway for sustainability.
He specifically appreciated the people of Eket and the State generally for the unity across the State, adding that the movement to the All Progressives Congress has largely contributed to the peace and unity enjoyed in the State.
Governor Eno said since assumption of office, he has served with sincerity and has made his mark, and assured of continuous commitment to good governance.
He noted that his administration has been very conscious to ensure inclusion, stressing that there is no local government without government projects.
The Governor who has lived and done business in Eket for many years, said he was particularly delighted with the construction of Eastern Obolo road to the council Secretariat and Odio road in Eket.
He urged the people to maintain peace for enhanced development, stressing that with development, geographical boundaries are blurred.
Governor Eno reminded everyone to approach the forth coming primaries with maturity and spirit of sportsmanship, for continuous peace and unity in the State.
At the meeting were other stakeholders including the State Chairman of the APC, Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, Executive Assistant/Chief Delivery Advisor, Mr Aniefiok Johnson, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, members of the National Assembly, House of Assembly members and Local government chairmen from the district among others.
