GOV. UDOM COMMENDS POLICE ON STATE SECURITY

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has ascribed the peace and security experienced in the state to God and the country’s security apparatus particularly the Police Force.
This position was made when the Governor interacted with officers and men of the Akwa Ibom state Command of the Police force during their annual get together held at the police officers mess, off Wellington Bassey way, Uyo.
He lauded the police authorities for being alive to their responsibilities saying that they have excelled in the maintenance of internal security in the state.
The Governor described the police as dependable partner in the state development, explaining that they have contributed immensely to the lofty development projects undertaken by the administration across the state by ensuring the safety of both the projects and the contractors.
He said his presence at the get together underscores the importance he attaches to the organisation and used the occasion to commend the force for it gallantry during the last December 2nd local government elections which recorded no loss of life.
Governor Emmanuel assured the police of his continued support in terms of logistics to enable them record additional feat in the performance of their duties and advised them not to derail in the successes attained.
The State Commissioner of Police Mr. Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, while welcoming Governor Emmanuel and the guest to the bash, acknowledged that year 2017 was characterized by pockets of attempts by criminally minded people to truncate the peace and security in the state.
He said the officers and men of the command were able to coordinate and collaborate with other agencies to maintain law, order and public security.
The police boss also recounted that the local government elections were held successfully because of the dedication and commitment of his officers.
Mr Ogunjemilusi appreciated the Governor for his support to the State Command and sought for more interventions through the provision of more operational vehicles, improved communication, funding and construction of more police stations.
Governor Emmanuel was accompanied by the Member representing Uyo federal Constituency, Dr. Michael Enyong, some members of the State Executive Council and some Peoples Democratic Party Chieftains.
