AKWA IBOM GOVT CONSTRUCTS 44 NEW ROADS TO END FLOODING IN UYO

Akwa Ibom State government has given assurance to the people, especially those living within the Uyo Metropolis that the problem of flooding in some areas of Uyo will be a thing of the past when the roads and drainages are completed and linked up.
Government position was made known on Tuesday, when the State Commissioner for Works; Mr Ephraim Inyang-Eyen, led a team of Engineers to inspect ongoing road constructions in the State embarked upon by the Udom Emmanuel led government.
Some of the ongoing road projects inspected were: Akpaube Close, Akpa Ube Lane off IBB Avenue, Ekperi Close by Akpaube, Idak Ukpa Street, off Aka Etinan Road and Afaha Atai village crescent road, in lbesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.
Others were: Vision close in Nsukara Offot, Udotong Ubo Lane, Akparen Street and Nung Atai Street leading to Christian Secondary Commercial School, Uyo.
The team which had the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary; Elder Effiong Essien in attendance, also inspected Ibiono Lane, Unit D line in Ewet Housing Estate, Ediye Samuel Street, off Edet Akpan Avenue, Akpan Ndem Street by Ewet Housing Estate, Unit G Line in Ewet Housing Estate and Eden Udo Close, amongst others.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the exercise, Mr Inyang-Eyen, expressed satisfaction over the quality of work being done by the indigenous contractors handling the forty four (44) internal roads within the capital city.
He hinted that the roads will be completed in good time, assuring that the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel will not leave any project he has started without completing it.
The Works Commissioner disclosed that the current administration under the leadership of Mr Udom Emmanuel remains committed to improving the living conditions of the people and ensuring efficient social infrastructure, including roads to ease transportation, boost commerce and trade as well as, control the menace of flood in some areas of the city.
Inyang-Eyen divulged that all the projects being executed by the current administration are meant to touch the lives of the people and attract investors to the State, assured that Governor Udom Emmanuel will not relent in bringing prosperity to the doorsteps of all Akwa Ibomites by meeting his desired targets enshrined in his five point agenda.
Meanwhile, dwellers of areas visited came out in large number to express their heartfelt appreciation to a governor who has felt their anguish and decided to come to their aid.
Those who spoke on behalf of residents, promised to mobilize support for Mr Udom Emmanuel and ensure he completes his mandatory two terms of eight unbroken years.
