The Akwa Ibom State Government has approved the construction of Youth Avenue, Mbiabong Etoi, to further enhance traffic for goods and services in the metropolis of the state capital city.
Governor Udom Emmanuel announced this on Monday, October 2, 2017 during the thanksgiving service in honour of the Accountant-General of the State, at Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), at Mbiabong Etoi, Uyo.
The Governor stated that the construction of the Avenue would add to the series of road projects approved by his administration to aid access to social institutions, adding that it would also serve as a commemoration of the event with direct impact on the Christian community in the area.
Describing the celebrator as a trust – worthy person, Emmanuel said that his administration would continue to consider trust as a yardstick for appointments, noting that trust is a virtue that should be cultivated from an early age.
He appreciated the Accountant – General for organizing the event to thank God, adding, “thanksgiving must come from the heart, not for showmanship and if you do it for applause, you have already received your reward”.
Emmanuel tasked the celebrator to use his elevation to assist others, pointing out that God had a reason for enabling his exaltation and admonished everyone, “you have to be very careful how you live your lives because the destinies of many people are tied to your own destiny”.
He urged the congregation to be appreciative to fellow humans, saying that someone who does not appreciate another person who offered assistant or support, cannot appreciate God, stressing that there are dangers to ingratitude.
While expressing appreciation to the Christian Congregation for their support through prayers, the State Chief Executive solicited for continuous prayers for his administration, maintaining that “anybody who does not pray for people in government is working against God because the Bible says you must pray for a leader continually”.
The Accountant-General of the State, Pastor Uwem Andrew-Essien, in company of his wife, Deaconess Imaobong and children, appreciated God for the gift of life and for using the Governor as a vessel to bestow blessings on his family.
Andrew-Essien thanked the Governor for finding him worthy of the position, describing it as “Divine Connection” and pledged his unalloyed support to the present administration.
He presented to the Governor, a souvenir symbolizing the unity of the three ethnic groups in the state, explaining that it was tthe inclusive governance of the Governor Emmanuel-led administration that consolidated the unity.
In his homily, the State Pastor of the Living Faith Church, Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Samuel Olasupo, reading from Malachi 2 : 2, said that God requires appreciation for the numerous blessings people enjoy through his undeserved kindness.
Pastor Olasupo enjoined Christians to always give thanks to God, stressing that thanksgiving is an indirect way of asking God for more blessings and reminded that ingratitude breeds supernatural detriment.
The event had in attendance the Wife of the Governor, Martha, the State Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, the State Chief Judge, Justice Godwin Abraham, former Deputy Governor of the State, Mrs. Valerie Ebe, Secretary to the State Government, Sir Etekamba Umoren, Head of the State Civil Service, Mrs. Ekereobong Akpan, members of the State Executive Council, Legislators, State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obong Paul Ekpo, State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Reverend Ndueso Ekwere, clerics and socio-cultural groups among others.
